College Achievers
Goal:
The goal of this scholarship is to support SANY alumni for their success at a 4-year college.
Award Details:
The scholarship includes $1,000/year funding that is renewable up to 4 years. Payments are made directly to the student's account at their college.
Application Deadline:
Rolling basis, however your complete application, including support documents from your schools, must arrive two weeks before your semester starts.
New Applicant Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must
- attend SANY Schools for at least three years, and
- be a recipient of Terra College Readiness Scholarship or have taken at least 4 four college courses and have minimum 2.7 GPA with these college courses to be eligible for the freshman year at a four year college, and
- ubmit a complete application with all required documents.
- Students who are not recipient of Terra College Readiness Scholarship may apply as a transfer students from 2-year colleges with 2.7 GPA (when they transfer into 4-year college) or may apply after their first semester at a 4-year college with GPA requirements set under renewal eligibility
- The scholarship can be used only for a four-year college
Renewal Eligibility
Scholarships are renewable by maintaining full-time status in all semesters (at least 12 credits per semester) at a four-year college with the set minimum GPA requirement for the semester they are in. Students must send their official transcripts for renewal of their existing scholarship:
- receive 2.4 GPA at the end of first semester at a four year college
- receive 2.5 GPA at the end of two semesters to be eligible for the sophomore year at a four year college
- receive 2.7 GPA at the end of four semesters to be eligible for the junior year at a four year college
- receive 2.9 GPA at the end of six semesters to be eligible for the senior year at a four year college
- a succesfull application with required documentation
Scholarship Use:
There are a number of requirements for the use of Terra’s College Achievers Scholarship enumerated below::
(a) Student must be enrolled full-time at a four-year college or university during the scholarship semester.
(b) Scholarship funds may be used for the following eligible expenses: tuition/fees, room and board, and/or books; funds must be applied AFTER other scholarships (Excelsior, college/university, etc.) and grants (Pell, TAP, etc.) have been applied.
(c) If other scholarships and grants cover all of the student’s eligible expenses, College Achievers Scholarship funds, or any portion that remains, will be returned to Terra Science and Education.
(d) No cash payments of unused funds will be paid to students.
(e) The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s account at the college to be used for tuition.
and fees. The scholarship payment will be made in two installments at the beginning of each semester following the receipt of the award.
(f) In any case that a student registers and then withdraws, thereby receiving a refund of the Terra Scholarship from the college, these funds are to be returned to Terra Science and Education. If the full-time attendance requirement is not met, regardless of any refund, any future scholarship payments will be forfeited.
(g) The majority of communication between recipients and the scholarship administrators will take place via email. Recipients are required to have and regularly check their email and notify Terra Science and Education of any changes to their contact information.
(h) Recipients of Terra scholarships are expected to acknowledge acceptance of the award promptly by signing the Acceptance Form provided by Terra.
(i) Terra Foundation hopes that recipients recognize and appreciate the contributions their award has made to their futures. It further anticipates that, in the years to come, recipients find some
way to give back to the community that provided them with these opportunities. In addition, candidates for this scholarship must demonstrate qualities of fine character, consideration for others, perseverance and a desire to succeed.
