Grand Prize winners of the Terra regional fairs will be sponsored to present their project at Intel ISEF. In May, 2017, Terra sponsored Sullivan Odell to attend Intel ISEF in Los Angeles, California as a student ambassador/adviser. Terra also sponsored four additional students from our regional fairs to attend Intel ISEF as competing finalist.

“Intel ISEF 2017 was a blast! Not only did I have a fun filled week in LA, I also learned a lot from some of the smartest and most innovative youth from all over the world. My week as a student observer was packed full of things to do. The Terra team and I stayed in a luxurious hotel in Los Angeles, ‘The L.A. Hotel Downtown’. My room had an amazing view of the city!

I listened to several very successful Intel ISEF alumni entrepreneurs on their experiences and success since participating in Intel ISEF, then the students got the chance to ask them questions. The Entrepreneur I talked to was Geoffrey Woo. Geoffrey is the co -founder of Nootrobox. Nootrobox is a supplement that can enhance your body in many ways from reacting faster to having a better memory. Geoffrey Woo also took this product on Shark Tank. On Shark Tank Geoffrey valued his company at 40 million dollars, the highest valuation on Shark Tank ever. It was an amazing experience to be able to have a conversation with such an established entrepreneur.

As a part of the student observer program we took a trip to USC while the finalist presented their projects. At USC we learned about how to communicate science to everyday people. One the most exciting parts of the trip was going to Hollywood Universal Studios. Intel rented out the park just for Intel ISEF students. All the food and drinks were free for us students at the park. My friends and I could go on all the rides multiple times because of the short lines and the park being empty compared to a normal day at universal Hollywood studios. It was a great time for us students to have fun together.

After the Special Award Ceremony, the Terra team planed a dessert party for us and our friends from other countries. The party was in a restaurant on the top floor of a hotel. It was a great time being able to talk and learn about their cultures.  Thanks to Terra I was able to have this amazing experience of a lifetime. Being around such smart people has only inspired me more to work even harder for next year’s fair so that I can be a finalist and be reunited with my friends from all over the world.”
